Georgia Plaintiff Appears to Revive Decade-Old Campaign
May 22, 2026
A plaintiff calling itself “Computer Protection IP, LLP” has filed suit against Samsung (2:26-cv-00414) in the Eastern District of Texas. Targeted is the provision of the Samsung Knox mobile security platform and the use of the open-source OpenStack distributed cloud computing platform. An earlier family member of the three patents now asserted against Samsung was litigated by Computer Protection IP, LLC (CPIP) roughly a decade ago, suggesting that the plaintiff here has simply misfired with respect to its own name.
