Longhorn IP’s Katana Posts $8M Bond

May 22, 2026

The District of Idaho has received an $8M bond. On February 18, 2026, District of Idaho Judge David C. Nye lifted the stays in two consolidated cases between patentholder Katana Silicon Technologies LLC together with its parent entity Longhorn IP LLC and Micron Technology. The Federal Circuit earlier rejected Katana’s interlocutory appeal from Judge Nye’s order requiring it to post an $8M bond under Idaho’s bad-faith patent assertion law, and the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) has issued related final written decisions. Judge Nye ordered Katana to “post bond in the amount of $8,000,000 within 90 days of this order”. It has done so.
