Nortrup Targets More Vehicles Equipped to Connect with Apple CarPlay and/or Android Auto

As a March 2025 case there against Toyota appears to have wound down, Edward Nortrup has fired off three more Eastern District of Texas complaints, one against each of Ford (4:26-cv-00540), Hyundai (4:26-cv-00542), and Kia (4:26-cv-00543). The same two patents are asserted, both generally related to an “in-vehicle computer system” that uses data from cell phones to provide traffic and route information to drivers. Again targeted is the provision of automobiles that incorporate Apple’s CarPlay and Google’s Android Auto platforms.
