Multiple Patent Cases Before Judge Counts Near Trial

May 31, 2026

Now that Western District of Texas Judge Alan D. Albright has announced plans to retire from the federal bench to return to private practice, even more patent litigation attention in that forum will likely shift to District Judge David Counts, who took the federal bench eight months before Judge Albright did. Jury trials are currently scheduled in patent cases in his courtroom for the coming months, in August, September, and October 2026 in cases filed respectively by Cobblestone Wireless, LLC against Apple; by CardWare, Inc. against Alphabet (Google); and by ACQIS LLC against Hon Hai Precision Industry—although, put a pin in all that.
