After a Short Break, Cardtek Resumes Payment Processing Campaign
Following the October 2025 dismissal of its last active case (against Chick-fil-A), Cardtek International Ltd. (d/b/a Cardtek International, Inc.) has resumed its litigation campaign with a suit against Target (2:25-cv-01202) in the Eastern District of Texas. The plaintiff asserts three “payment convergence system” patents, with Target accused of infringement through the provision of its point-of-sale (POS) terminals and mobile apps, as well as “associated backend servers”. At issue is the Wallet feature, which allows users to make payments using a barcode that applies rewards offers and connects to multiple payment sources.
