IDrive Sues Microsoft over OneDrive

February 20, 2026

IDrive Inc. (f/k/a Pro Softnet Corporation) has sued Microsoft (2:26-cv-01556) over three patents broadly directed to using a “shell interface” to transmit information between a client device and “web-based data store”. In the new Central District of California complaint, the plaintiff targets the provision of the OneDrive cloud storage solution. At issue are its various components, ranging from its support for “client applications” on Android, iOS, iPadOS, macOS, and Windows devices to the underlying Azure architecture on which the “OneDrive web-based data store” is built.
