Facing Alice Challenges Elsewhere, MISSED CALL Sues Samsung in the Eastern District of Texas

MISSED CALL, LLC has filed an Eastern District of Texas complaint against Samsung (2:26-cv-00155), targeting the provision of features for notifying users of missed calls and tracking them in the Samsung CMS call management system. A single patent has been asserted against all 14 campaign defendants, several of which have filed motions to dismiss based on Alice. Those defendants have challenged claims of that patent as ineligibly directed to the abstract idea of “labeling conventional and well-known information and displaying that label to a call recipient”.
