Empire IP’s Nearby Systems Targets More Mobile Apps
April 2, 2026
Nearby Systems LLC has filed separate Eastern District of Texas complaints against Ashland (Valvoline) (2:26-cv-00251), Chevron (2:26-cv-00250), Exxon Mobil (2:26-cv-00260), and Kohl’s (2:26-cv-00259) after hitting Christian Dior (Sephora) (2:26-cv-00076) and Gap (2:26-cv-00094) earlier this year in the same district. Four patents—generally related to “displaying location-based content on a digital map” on a mobile device—are asserted against each of these defendants, with infringement allegations targeting the provision of their respective mobile apps.
